DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES

Technology is changing fast and our education system needs to grow and adapt with it.

We are changing how we equip our children and young people to participate, create, and thrive in this fast-evolving digital world.

Our school uses a variety of digital resources to support student learning.

These include:

➔ Macbook Air laptops

➔ Touch Screen Chromebooks

➔ iPads and apps

Coding robots and software

➔ Digital cameras

➔ Projectors

➔ TV Screens and

➔ Ultrafast unlimited broadband

● The use of devices depends on the age and ability of each student and at Franz Josef Glacier School we believe that they are just one resource to support learning and are not used all day for every subject.

● Google Apps for Education is used as the main platform for both students and staff.

● The school provides all these devices at no cost to parents and all students are required to sign a Cybersafety agreement at the time of enrolment.

● The misuse or damage of equipment will result in a period of time without devices and an agreement between the school and family about how the cost of repair will be managed.

What is Digital Technologies & Hangarau Matihiko

Digital Technologies & Hangarau Matihiko is about teaching our tamariki and children how technology works, and how they can use that knowledge to solve problems.

Once this new curriculum is introduced, our kids won’t just be using devices like computers and smart phones. The changed curriculum will mean that schools will be teaching our young people the computer science principles that all digital technologies are built on.

Your child will benefit from having these future thinking skills.
